| How do I use anti-virus software? What is "Update?" Once anti-virus software is installed and updated, the program runs automatically in the background. The user does not need to "do" anything; the program will automatically catch and quarantine viruses that try to enter your computer. The anti-virus program must be updated weekly to ensure you are protected against new viruses that are discovered. Anti-virus programs either update themselves automatically e.g. Norton LiveUpdate or have an "Update" button. How do I get rid files quarantined by my anti-virus program? Restart your computer to make sure the quarantined files will not stop your computer from operating. Next, open your anti-virus program, find the quarantined files and delete them.
How do I turn off my anti-virus? Find the anti-virus icon in the system tray (the system tray is at the bottom right of the display where the clock is found). Hover the mouse pointer over the anti-virus icon and click once with the right mouse button. Choose Exit or Disable from the pop-up menu to stop the anti-virus program from running.
